    Workplace well-being programmes. Why?

An effective workplace well-being programme can deliver mutual benefits to people, organisations and to the wider local community.

Healthy workplaces help people to flourish and reach their potential. Creating an environment that actively promotes a state of contentment, benefiting both employees and the organisation. Thus, increasing resilience, better employee engagement, reduced sickness absence and higher performance and productivity.

In formulating the business need for managing people’s health, the focus has always been on measuring the negative impact of ill health, (such as the cost of sickness absence).

Yet, a more engaging business case is the positive link between wellness programmes in the workplace with the improved engagement and performance levels. Contributing to a healthier and more inclusive work culture, better work-life balance with higher morale and engagement.

How can I help the basis of your business, your staff, flourish?

My name is Paul Langford BSc (Hons).

I run T2T Fitness; driven to help people create their health in today’s modern society. One aspect is delivering deep tissue or sports therapy massages within my own practice, and as an associate with the doctors at a Chiropractic clinic.

I work to relax and revitalise, reduce pain or discomfort. Increase ranges of movement and decrease muscle and joint stiffness. In general, creating a sense of well-being from manual therapy techniques delivered through massage.

    Massage benefits can include:

    • reducing stress and increasing relaxation,
    • reducing pain and muscle soreness and tension,
    • improving circulation, energy and alertness,
    • lowering heart rate and blood pressure,
    • improving immune function.

Dwelling on my experience, deep tissue massage due to the benefits below, is my primary ‘go-to’ technique for immediate results. Yet, to utilise all aspects of how the body works, your well-being programme could the below:

    • posture assessments and corrective treatment,
    • blood pressure, BMI measurements,
    • sports therapy interventions to stimulate specific muscles, lengthening and relieve tension,
    • stress management techniques including breath work and meditation advice or practice,
    • Exercise sessions, workshops, individual fitness development programming/advice.

All equipment will be provided: massage couch, lotions, towels etc. If we are using the massage couch, a meeting room or private room that can be closed off via blinds or curtains is ideal. The ability to secure the door is always useful but not essential.

Going beyond the above bullet points, some just enjoy massage because it often produces feelings of caring, comfort, connection and relaxation from touch, for we are a social species.

    Undecided?

Why don’t I spend some time massaging as a free trial, so you can see and feel the benefit?

Again, all this will be designed and implemented around the best working practices within your organisation delivered in a block of time to suit you. This can also extend to continue after the working day, so once people have finished, they can be massaged, unwind, before their commute home, making a productive day a relaxing day too.

As mentioned, this is just an example, every organisation is different. Any well-being program will need to be designed around your needs and working practices.
